Information and Registration for Prospective Students

Spring - 2019 After-School Computer Programming Clubs

Starting in January, we will host an after-school computer programming clubs to 6-12th-grade girls from ANY Twin Cities area school. The club is taught by UMN students and faculty. It will occur on Tuesdays from 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM January 29th - May 14th with a break on March 19th in 2019.

This class aims to teach basic programming through Java. Java is one of the most popular programming languages in the software industry. If you learn Java with a deep understanding of basic programming concepts, you will be able to code in almost any major programming language without taking classes. Girls will learn core computer science concepts, get an introduction to programming, and work together on a technology project to impact their community.

This program is no cost, no experience is required, and we provide computers for students to use. We meet on the East Bank Campus at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The program meets Tuesday evenings from Jan - May 2019. Registration for Spring 2019 is open. Check for the syllabus with more details or email us at [email protected] with questions.
